About the Work:
White Fence is the result of my ongoing investigation into alienation and disenfranchisement in society.
During the June 6, 2020, Black Lives Matter protest over half a million people protested in over 550 locations across the United States.
These protests are setting into motion a sustained and widespread social political change in the country.
about the Artist:
Keith Francis (New Bedford, MA) is an educator, graphic designer, mixed media, multimedia artist and sculptor.
Francis’ work examines contemporary, social, political and environmental issues. Through extensive research, a high degree of refinement, and a varied use of materials, the final results are thought provoking and meticulously constructed.
Keith earned a M.F.A. (2018) in Fine Art from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston, MA; B.A. (1989) in Fine Arts and Visual Communications from the University of Massachusetts–Dartmouth, North Dartmouth, MA. He studied Fine Art Photography at Maine Media Workshops & College, Rockport, ME.
He has exhibited his artwork at the University of Mississippi, deCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Viterbo University, Montserrat College of Art, New Hampshire Art Institute, Phillips Exeter Academy, The Cambridge School, Moses Brown School, Viterbo University, Swarthmore College and Delaware State University to name a few. His work is held in public and private collections in the United States and internationally.
Recent exhibitions at the New Bedford Art Museum (2021–2022) and Massachusetts College of Art and Design SoWa Gallery (2021). Awarded publications in Circle Quarterly Art Review, Summer (2020); and Spotlight Contemporary Art Magazine, Issue 17 (2020).
Francis is a professional licensed Visual Design and Communications instructor.
