Artist’s Statement

For over 15 years Flores has been creating trails of Poetry Boxes with communities as part of a project she designed entitled Poetry of the Wild. The project which has traveled across the country encourages the public to walk, to explore their local landscapes and to reflect and respond to the poems and prose found in the community made poetry boxes. For Jamestown Flores will install a new series of “poetry boxes” which are inspired by a cross between antique portable writing desks and plein air easels.
